The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all imports and exports comply with customs regulations and that goods are cleared through customs efficiently. The Customs Broker will liaise with clients, government agencies, and transportation companies to facilitate the smooth clearance of goods. Responsibilities: Customs Clearance:

• Prepare and process import and export documentation according to customs regulations, laws, and procedures.
• Classify goods according to tariff coding systems.

Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to import and export activities.
• Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and adjust processes accordingly.

Client Relations:

• Act as a liaison between clients and customs authorities.
• Provide clients with guidance on customs regulations, duties, and taxes.

Documentation:

• Verify the accuracy of shipment documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and invoices.
• Prepare and submit necessary documentation to customs and other regulatory agencies.

Problem Resolution:

• Address and resolve any issues that arise during the customs clearance process, including discrepancies, delays, and compliance issues.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth handling of shipments.

Record Keeping:

• Maintain detailed records of all transactions, including documentation of customs entries, duties paid, and correspondences.
• Ensure proper filing and storage of all customs documentation for audit purposes.

Advisory Services:

• Provide advisory services to clients on best practices for minimizing duties and taxes while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
• Assist clients with tariff classification, valuation, and country of origin determinations.

Training and Development:

• Train and mentor junior staff on customs procedures and compliance.
• Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to customs regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

• Licensed Customs Broker certification.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs brokerage or a related field.
• In-depth knowledge of customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office and customs brokerage systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with specific customs brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise).
• Multilingual abilities, especially in languages (English) relevant to our client base.
