DLP Technical Security Specialist

The primary responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to managing of Symantec Data Loss Prevention (DLP) systems. This involves hands-on tasks such as upgrading Symantec DLP systems, implementing DLP policies and troubleshooting any issues that may arise within the Symantec DLP infrastructure. The proficiency in understanding and navigating the intricacies of Symantec DLP will be crucial for ensuring the effective protection of sensitive data.

Simultaneously, expertise in Microsoft purview is essential for integrating and enhancing data governance practices. This includes utilizing Purview’s capabilities to discover, classify and manage data across the organization. From a technical standpoint, you will be expected to leverage your skills in both Symantec DLP and Microsoft Purview to create a seamless and robust data protection framework, aligning with the technical intricacies of the organization’s security and compliance objectives.

Role and responsibilities

Your team and role:

You will be collaborating with 6 colleagues in the technical DLP team, consisting out of likeminded, driven MS Purview professionals as well as Symantec professionals. The technical team has a focus on the DLP tools itself as well as the infrastructure the tools are running on. The bigger challenges of the team are mainly focused on our future state: how can we best utilize our DLP tooling throughout the whole organization and further strengthen our DLP capabilities? With the team you will work on (further) building and maintaining our DLP tooling and infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with the DLP Policy Team to build, implement and maintain new policies and rules into the tooling.

A grasp of your responsibilities:

• Conduct regular assessments and updates to ensure the effectiveness of the DLP solutions;
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the Symantec DLP infrastructure;
• Establish and maintain integration points between Symantec DLP and Microsoft Purview for a cohesive data protection strategy;
• Provide technical support for end-users encountering challenges with DLP functionalities.

Education and experience

You possess the following (technical) background:

• 2+ years of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) work experience, using Symantec, or equivalent enterprise solutions is required, with: an excellent understanding of network and host based DLP technologies, processes, policies and procedures;
• Knowledge of privacy and data protection regulatory requirements;
• Knowledge of DLP concepts and terminology, e.g., rules, policies, regex, exact data match and fingerprinting;
• In-depth knowledge of the Symantec DLP architecture, including server components, detection servers, policy servers and management consoles;
• Background in Information/Cyber Security, IT , engineering.
