Job Description

We have a vacancy for a Senior Research Assistant Immunology to work at International food innovation company in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

The Senior research assistant will conduct preclinical immunological models and deliver reliable experimental results in due time and with high quality standard. This includes cell-based assays, ELISA/multiplex assays, flow cytometry/array scan, with a 3R philosophy. Those models will be used to select nutritional ingredients and biotic candidates for food product innovations supporting the immune system of adults, consumers, and patients.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set-up and validation of complex & predictive in vitro models to assess immune responses in the field of infection and inflammation.
• Develop expertise in primary immune cell isolation, culturing and evaluation of modulation
• Reliable high-quality standard in vitro experimental results on nutritional ingredient and biotic candidates for future food innovation and immune-modulation assessment
• Actively contribute to efficiency/efficacy within the specific area of expertise by selecting and developing new technology, methods and tools to improve the output for immune assays and the 3Rs.
• The Senior research assistant also plays a role in maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and testing sterility of the equipment.
• Within the Immune team, to collaborate with the immune senior research assistants and scientists on common scientific projects.
• Within MNS Life Science and Digital Health scientific community, especially with other teams working in the Life Science laboratory (the Gut Biology and Microbiota team and the Nutritional physiology and Functional ingredients team)
• Establish and maintain a good network with external academic & industrial immunological labs, attending technical congresses, to be updated on Immunology emerging technologies

Job requirements

• 
  Bachelor or Master degree in Life Sciences, Nutrition, Food Chemistry, Biology, Biomedical Science or relevant discipline (candidates with a PhD will not be considered for this role)
• 3-4 years of relevant hands-on work experience within immunology
• You are aware of all the rules and regulations for working within a BSL2 lab
• You have good writing skills for writing standard operating procedures (SOP) and reports
• You are able to actively contributes to efficiency/efficacy within the specific area of expertise by selecting and developing new technology, methods and tools to improve the output which might include connecting to external experts
• You are fluent in English

Terms of employment:

This concerns a temporary secondment contract for 1 year via Yacht with placement at our client (extension is possible).
