Summary:

Duties

The Supervisory Visa Assistant directly supervises the locally employed (LE) staff assigned visa-related portfolios (approximately six people). S/he is the first point of contact for nonimmigrant visa (NIV) and immigrant visa (IV) assistance for the Visa Chief and Consular Chief, and is responsible for the overall training and direction of LE staff performing visa work. The Supervisory Visa Assistant plans and organizes work operations, establishes workload priorities in coordination with the Visa Chief, and ensures proper application of applicable regulations. S/he will also act as visa intake coordinator and reports directly to the Visa Chief, or in the absence of the Visa Chief, to the Consular Chief.


Qualifications and Evaluations Requirements:

Experience: Six years of experience working in an office environment that requires dealing with the public, as well as experience in NIV and IV matters is required. At least one year of experience supervising or managing a team of employees is required.

Job knowledge: Must have knowledge of U.S. immigration law and guidelines. Must be familiar with the requirements for the issuance of Dutch passports and for alien entry and stay in the Netherlands. Must have knowledge of Dutch social and economic conditions.

Education Requirements:

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.

Evaluations:

Language Requirements: Level IV (fluent) English and Dutch is required. This may be tested.

Skills and Abilities: Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and ability to multitask. Must have ability to independently read and absorb dense regulatory materials and apply them to situations encountered. Must be able to provide constructive feedback to staff, and to spot problems with workflow and find solutions. Must have ability to mentor LE staff and diagnose needed corrective training.

Special Working Environment and Conditions: The Consulate General is a historic, multi-story building with no elevator. Work areas are spread across four floors. The ability to walk up and down flights of stairs frequently without assistance is mandatory.

Benefits and Other Info Benefits: Agency Benefits:

Salary: €55,180 annual base salary. An additional 20.2% will be added to the listed Locally Employed (LE) Staff salary for allowances and premiums. You will receive a vacation bonus at 8.2 percent of base pay, a bonus for duty-free days at 3.67 percent of base pay and a year-end bonus at 8.33 percent of base pay. For this FSN-09 position this equates to a total remuneration of €66,326 per annum based on a 40-hour work week.

For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
