As a pure-play recycling company, we generate revenue by converting the waste we process into secondary materials, which we sell to our customers. Unlike many of our competitors, who typically draw revenue from the incineration of waste, our activities generate revenue while contributing to a circular economy.
Our biggest division Commercial Waste has translated this into one of its strategic pillars: "Leader in recycling & secondary materials production”.

The Product Manager Plastics has a leading and facilitating role in realising this ambition and develops/manages our roadmap to grow the plastic recycling business and develops/manages the global market by, among other things, setting up strategic collaborations with partners in the Plastic Waste-to-Product chain. Renewi’s plastics activities include mechanical recycling of mixed rigid plastics, collection and trading of foils, and production of feedstock for chemical recycling.

Your key responsibilities:

• You take the lead in defining the Plastic Growth Plans vision and strategy, overseeing the entire product life cycle of one of Renewis strategic products, plastics.
• You identify market developments and ensure that activities are aligned with input waste streams and output products.
• You oversee various aspects of the business to maximize end-to-end margin, volume, quality compliance, circularity, greenhouse gas emissions, and customer satisfaction.
• You lead a multi-functional team involved in value chain management for material and product flows within our division.
• You provide reports on volume, sales, and margin to the business controller/data team.
• You manage the plastic material flow from purchasing (waste collection) to product sales.
• Together with the innovation & business development team, you explore new concepts for customer "secondary raw material."
• You ensure proper certification and compliance, including End-of-Waste requirements.
• Be the face of Renewi at external forums, showcasing our commitment to innovation and sustainability.
• You facilitate cooperation between different departments in product management.
• You collaborate with the team to implement innovative processing processes through chain cooperation or acquisitions.
• You develop business cases for new products within established sorting and processing policies.

Where will you end up?

In this hybrid role you can be based anywhere, as long as your location is a Renewi location in the Netherlands. You will be on the road for at least one third of your time. You will lead a multidisciplinary product team and you will report to the Manager Innovation. What we believe will help you to be successful in this role:

Our ideal candidate has an academic background with at least five years pf experience in plastic production, conversion and processing or plastic recycling. You are eager to grow your career in a vibrant and innovative business. Furthermore:

• Expertise in the treatment of plastic waste; (pre)sorting, separation, processing, extrusion or compounding is a pre.
• A network in the plastic production market, with experience in the use of recyclates, is desirable.
• Future leadership potential: ability to grow with the organisation and strong programme management skills.
• Strong, determined, energetic self-starter, positive, supportive and passionate.
• Excellent communication skills (in English and preferably some Dutch) to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Masters degree from a Technical University in polymer science, chemical processing, material sciences, product design, or a related field.
