Marine Underwriter, Benelux

A rare and exciting position is now available in our Marine team for a Underwriter to support and grow the Marine insurance product in the Benelux region. With training and coaching from our experienced underwriting team you will be able to develop yourself further as the technical expert for the function and region. Your responsibilities will involve underwriting business in line with the business plan; setup insurance programs in collaboration with middle office; monitoring exposure within agreed limits; monitoring premium income to make sure it remains within agreed limits; maintaining awareness of all claims advised; supporting and providing input on settlement of claims advised; building and maintaining relationships with brokers and clients; supporting the design and structure of risks; identifying and driving new product development opportunities. This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime. DISCOVER your opportunity What will your essential responsibilities include?

• Assisting the marine team in the day to day handling of the portfolio with the aim to deliver the highest level of response time and service quality towards clients and brokers;
• Build and maintain relationship with underwriters and middle office team;
• Review results of the landbased equipment and inland hull book and prepare renewal terms in conjunction with and support to the underwriting team;
• Follow up on facilities (quality of bordereaux, results development etc.);
• Negotiate with producers to achieve profit objectives;
• Grow your expertise with the products, services and targeted markets;
• Underwrite, manage and service the existing portfolio and produce new business;
• Grow yourself towards senior underwriter’s role by underwriting of complex accounts with support of experienced colleagues;
• Co-Responsible for the governance and monitoring of local synergies and boundaries.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager Specialty, Benelux. SHARE your talent We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred and equivalent experience, policy development and broker management;
• Marine underwriting knowledge and good negotiation skills;
• Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation;
• Excellent in Dutch; good knowledge of English language;
• Moderate underwriting experience or equivalent;
• Ability to work in a team environment.
