Hej! We are Ingka Group, the biggest IKEA franchisee accounting for more than 90% of IKEA sales globally. We bring IKEA to the lives of the many people in more than 30 countries.

We’re excited to be recruiting for a legal counsel with senior experience in M&A to join our Group Corporate and M&A legal team based at our global corporate head office in Leiden, the Netherlands.

As Legal Counsel - Corporate/M&A, you’ll be part of a team of nine legal professionals that support the 3 global business of Ingka Group: IKEA Retail, Ingka Investments and Ingka Centres.
The businesses of Ingka Group are on a growth journey and therefore the Group Legal & Governance team is expanding. This role will support all of Ingka Group’s businesses on corporate matters, but will focus on supporting global M&A projects in various business areas that are relevant for IKEA’s growth and ambitions, such as renewable energy, real estate, circularity and tech.

The role reports into Ashwin Sewnandan Mishre, our Legal Counsel Manager - Corporate/M&A, who is also based in Leiden, the Netherlands.

A SNAPSHOT OF WHAT YOU´LL BE DOING:

You will:

• work at a truly purpose driven and global leading retail organisation with an ambitious growth strategy;
• have a global head office position in an international work environment;
• be part of the Group Legal & Governance team and work closely with Ingka’s global and country legal teams as well as its investment teams;
• provide commercial, strategic and solution driven legal advice and support on all aspects of M&A-projects (e.g. review, draft and negotiate transaction documents and internal decision making documents as well as working on management and integration of acquired companies);
• provide legal support on various corporate matters (e.g. corporate governance and structuring);
• network and create strong relationships with stakeholders in Ingka Group as well as external counsels to maximize the full potential of knowledge sharing;
• keep track of emerging trends, (legal) technologies, regulations, and industry practices and facilitate understanding across the organisation of the impact of such legislation and regulations; and
• always look to see where you can add value!

What youll need to have

WE´RE LOOKING FOR A QUALIFIED LAWYER WHO:

• has senior experience in (Dutch) Corporate Law and M&A, gained through +7 years working experience in a law firm (some in-house experience is also appreciated);
• is fluent in English (verbally and in writing) with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels with different stakeholders;
• is accurate and solution driven legal business partner with sound judgment and understanding of business needs and strategic drivers;
• is down to earth, flexible, hands-on, pro-active and has a ‘get the job done’ mentality;
• is down to earth, proactive, and has a ‘get the job done’ mentality;
• is a genuine team player, who can also work independently;
• is open to travel occasionally; and
• most importantly, resonates with the IKEA values.
