Sales Application Specialist - System Engineer - Horticultural LED Solutions

LED technology applied in horticulture brings new opportunities: now growth light can be tuned exactly to the crop and its environment, thus improving yield and saving energy. Together with growers, partners and universities Signify successfully develops solutions for best business results. Today’s business is to design and supply LED solutions for professional growers. With our LED solutions, light can be tuned exactly to the crop and its environment to improve growth results, which is the fundament for our ‘light recipe approach’. The most advanced light recipes are enabled by our GrowWise Control System so growers get more flexible control over crop quality, productivity and operational efficiency. This system is usually connected to climate control or greenhouse management system to simplify operation.

We are active in LED lighting for growing vegetables, fruits, flowers and pharmaceutical compounds grown in high tech greenhouses, vertical farms and research institutes all over the world. Along with Plant Specialists and Key Account Managers, an Application Engineer is one of three key experts in the sales approach of Signify LED Horticulture to be able to provide and deliver value to the customers.

As a Sales Application Specialist, you are part of a global, innovative and multidisciplinary team building together a fast-growing business. You support customers in using your technical skillset for global support. You will report to the Global Manager Application Engineering and work closely with Application and System Engineers in central LED Horticulture team as well as with your colleagues in sales, marketing and plant specialism.

You will become an expert in the GrowWise Control System and you will have technical knowledge of the Signify Horticulture LED portfolio with some understanding of the horticulture application. You will be the technical backbone for customers and our LED Horticulture partners for GrowWise Control Systems. You have an active interest in the business world and a desire to excel in customer satisfaction. You make this happen by a pro-active attitude.

What youll do

• Design GrowWise Control Systems according to customer / project specific requirements

• Validate the systems according to design

• Support the installing partners in the design, testing and release of a solution for a specific deal, e.g. integration of our systems to 3rd party systems

• Commission the system (remotely / on-site) and as needed, handover during commissioning to installers

• Provide technical support to customers (internal and external) throughout the sales process from preliminary GrowWise Control System design to installation and the connected products to it

• Contribute and (co)write to technical product documentation such as Application Guide, Quick Installation Guide, Technical Specification, and Product Brochure

• Provide customer training in the use of Signify, Philips brand LED Horticulture GrowWise Control System product portfolio and the LED products connected to it.

• Assist in developing necessary technical tools to support sales

• Provide relevant input to R&D for building blocks improvement

Your qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience

• Equipped with 5+ years of relevant technical working experience in lighting

• Experienced in lighting control systems and software

• Basic knowledge on optics/mechanics/electrical

• Basic knowledge of LED technology is strongly preferred

• Basic knowledge in creating light designs is preferred

• Be able to design optimal solutions based on product portfolio

• Strong computer skills and proficiency with spreadsheets, functional databases, enterprise-wide software applications

• Customer focused while still maintaining the Company initiatives

• Capable to solve complex technical issues and bring them to conclusion

• High level of initiative with the ability to self-motivate and work independently

• Reliable team player with excellent communication skills in English. Dutch is preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize, managing multiple projects within deadlines

• Willingness to travel when needed, ~20%

• Driver’s license for a passenger’s car is a must for this function
