As Company Legal Counsel you`re going to play a crucial role in managing and overseeing all legal aspects of the companys operations. This position requires a highly skilled and experienced legal professional who can handle contract management for international retailers and online platforms, manage international intellectual property (IP) and design rights registrations, and act as the gatekeeper for various legal issues. As Legal Counsel you will also serve as the primary liaison to external legal support and will act as a sparring partner for the Compliance Officer.

As Legal Counsel you report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Responsibilities:

1. Contract Management:

  • Oversee and manage contracts with international retailers and e-tailers;
  • Ensure all contracts are compliant with relevant laws and regulations;
  • Negotiate contract terms and conditions to protect the companys interests;
  • Maintain an organized and up-to-date contract database.

2. Intellectual Property and Design Rights:

  • Manage the registration and protection of international IP and design rights;
  • Monitor and enforce IP rights to prevent infringement;
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel to handle IP-related disputes and litigation;
  • Stay updated on changes in IP laws and regulations.

3. Legal Issue Management:

  • Act as the gatekeeper for all legal issues within the company;
  • Assess the risk and impact of legal issues and determine the need for specialized legal support;
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders;
  • Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to mitigate risks.

4. Liaison to External Legal Support:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external legal counsel;
  • Coordinate with external legal support on various legal matters;
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between internal teams and external legal counsel;
  • Manage legal budgets and expenses related to external legal support.

5. Compliance Support:

  • Act as a sparring partner for the Compliance Officer;
  • Collaborate on compliance-related matters and provide legal insights;
  • Assist in developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent legal qualification;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar legal role, preferably in an international setting;
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, IP law, and international business regulations;
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
