The team | Wholesale Banking (WB)

Our WB transformation focuses on deepening our client relationships, increasing sustainable fee income and deploying our capital more efficiently. Its brought to life by our enabling priorities under the making the difference in WB strategy - providing seamless digital services, relevant advice and product solutions, while staying safe and secure.

As part of WB CTO, the Global Digital team is pivotal in realizing the target digital delivery and improving customer and employee experience. The team is fully dedicated to setting the WB digital strategy, redirecting where needed based on market- and internal developments, pushing for strong prioritization and commitment throughout the organization, and ensuring that our delivery efforts bring the value we target for. The Digital team consists of experts in three focus areas: Digital strategy & execution, FinTech expertise & development and the CoE Customer Experience.

Roles and responsibilities

In this forward-thinking role, you will help develop and implement digital solutions within ING WB through collaboration with external Fintech partners. As Fintech innovation expert, you drive the development and implementation of the Fintech strategy for our Wholesale Banking business. By establishing core Fintech capabilities, you bring in insights, new ideas and opportunities and solutions from these partnerships to WB business lines with the objective to accelerate our digital delivery. With your external market overview, strong network with industry peers and Fintech partners, scouting capabilities, expertise in designing and executing PoCs, you are capable to support business lines to connect with partners and assess opportunities and potential value of solutions for WB business lines.

To be successful it is imperative that you will not be “managing the process” from the sidelines; you’ll need to work closely with and in the delivery organization, facilitate conflict and impediment resolution and lead deep dives on content topics that might hamper delivery of the digital transformation roadmap. You will work closely with the wider CTO transformation team and delivery organizations to ensure strong execution and delivery towards the designed target.

Your key responsibilities

• You create a safe environment to support digital teams to test and validate new technologies with an emphasis on transparency, collaboration, and problem solving
• You are a naturally collaborative person, who listens and invests in others to achieve common goals and at the same time not afraid to push, where needed, to challenge status quo
• Set Fintech priorities, guided by strategic priorities of the WB Transformation office and identified demand within the business lines
• Scan the market and explore Fintech solutions that strengthen digitalization initiatives and respond to business demand, and guide decision making process towards initiation of Fintech partnership
• Support implementation with design Proof of Concept (PoC) setup, run risk assessments, guide onboarding of Fintech partner
• Create business cases to further develop Fintech opportunities and get endorsement from sponsors to scale solutions
• Steer a portfolio of new and proven Fintech opportunities that support business lines in delivering their seamless digital delivery and critically keep on assessing value add
• Handover Fintech initiatives to Tribes and Tech teams for implementation and deployment across ING WB
• Help to realize and commercialize into the business - moving FinTech products beyond partnership, embedding solutions and supporting implementation and adoption

Furthermore, you:

• Have a minimum of 5-7 years of industry or functional domain experience, including at least 3 years of experience collaborating with Fintech companies, with extensive knowledge of the Fintech landscape within Financial Services
• Have a solid understanding of the key challenges and opportunities in Wholesale Banking across business lines - Lending, Financial Markets and Transaction Services
• Have excellent Project/Programme Management skills with the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams and support functions - Legal, Finance, Risk, Operations, Compliance and Tech to drive Fintech initiatidves
• Demonstrate excellent communications skills, you can communicate effectively across all levels of the organization from team level to senior leaders
• Have strong analytical capabilities to drive quantitative insights and solve complex problems
• Have the ability to break down complex ambiguous problems into structured proposals to drive consensus and decision making in a high pressure environment.
