POSITION OF DEPARTMANT WITHING ORGANISATION
Cross-Ocean B.V. is a 100% owned subsidiary of COSCO Shipping (Europe) GmbH. Cross-Ocean B.V. consists of two departments: the General Agency Department and the Logistics Services Department. Our General Agency Department (GAD) delivers husbandry activities to COSCO Shipping vessels and third-party vessels for which Cross Ocean has been nominated as agent. The focus of our Logistics Services Department (LSD) is on providing forwarding and customs services not only in-house to our COSCO organization but mainly to third party customers. Cross-Ocean B.V. is also appointed as marketing and sales agent for COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. This part of the COSCO group is active in the heavy lift and break-bulk shipping services.
POSITION OF JOB IN ORGANISATION
The Operator - Customs Specialist report to the manager LSD. The Operator - Customs works closely together on customs and forwarding activities within a team of experienced professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES / CORE ACTIVITIES
- To perform daily custom clearance activities independently within the department following strictly the company guidelines
- To custom clear cargo electronically based on correct statistics codes and cargo description
- To deal with questions of customers, principals, custom authorities, and other departments on clearance issues
- Pro-forma drafts of appeals for Customs formalities
- Assist sister company COSCO SHIPPING (Netherlands) B.V. with AEO related activities and administrations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- MBO diploma level 4 and/or certificates
- Declarant diploma (STC/FENEX)
- Additional education and certificates are preferred
- +6 years of experience in custom clearance/ forwarding/ liner environment
COMPETENCES
- Fluent Dutch, English, and German, spoken and written
- (Customer) service oriented
- Able to work both independently and within a team
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks
- Accurate with figures and data
- Problem solver
