General Counsel / Associate Director Legal & Compliance

The role

Reporting to the Benelux CEO, this role will provide support to the entire Benelux business. The work is exciting, impactful and ever-evolving. This is not an average lawyer role! This role provides the opportunity to be a generalist with a proactive, entrepreneurial and business-focused approach. You will solve complex legal issues facing the business, both locally and internationally, and mitigate legal risk. You will act as a sparring partner for the Benelux Senior Management Team. It’s an unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in further developing the Benelux legal department (3 direct reports).

In this role as General Counsel Benelux you are responsible for legal & compliance within HelloFresh Benelux. You are a hands-on lawyer and, together with your team, used to provide your colleagues with legal and strategic advice. To achieve this you have a sound legal background, management experience and you are a team player. .

What you’ll do

• Be responsible for the delivery of practical, timely and expert legal advice and guidance to the executive management team, heads of department and key internal and external stakeholders with respect to legal, risk and compliance issues related to the development and execution of HelloFresh’s business strategy.
• Act as a sparring partner for senior management and proactively give advice and have a strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally
• Manage your team to give proactive legal advice to the broader organization
• Responsible for the contracting life cycle for commercial and general business related contracting
• Responsible for all litigation and legal conflicts. Close collaboration with the People team on various People and employment law related topics
• Internally represents HelloFresh Benelux in all compliance related matters as the Local Compliance Officer (Global and local Compliance Committees)
• Represent HelloFresh Benelux externally as the Data Privacy Officer (DPO)
• Work closely with the global legal and compliance teams to address risks facing the business
• Engage and oversee work of external legal counsel, where appropriate
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of recent legal developments, applicable laws and regulations and train the business accordingly

What you’ll bring

• You are an experienced (Dutch qualified) lawyer (at least 8 years experience), ideally you have both law firm and in-house experience representing e-commerce and B2C organizations. Employment law interest and/or experience is a pre
• You have experience across various areas of law including but not limited to: general commercial, contracting, data privacy, litigation, employment
