The technology organization supports SABIC’s global businesses in realizing its objectives by providing Best-In-Class Technology solutions. Within the T&I technology organization, SABIC is developing new products, applications, processes and products. Our Polymer PP Technology department in the technical center Geleen has an opening for a Catalyst Scientist in the Horizontal gas phase technology team.

Job Purpose & Responsibilities:

As Catalyst Scientist you will be working on the development & implementation of innovation programs within the PP horizontal gas phase Technology team, with global impact in existing and future Assets for SABIC.

Your tasks and responsibilities include:

• Drive and execute projects which support our T&I and Business strategy; identify opportunities for technological innovation
• Implementation of (new) products, catalysts and process optimizations from small scale reactors to commercial plants
• Provide answers for technical questions and challenges in the field of catalysis combining experimental work, scientific knowledge, and searching scientific / patent literature.
• Maintaining a high scientific standard of reporting

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Polymers Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field, or a Master’s degree with minimum 5 year of experience in any these fields
• Knowledge or expertise with polyolefin catalysis is preferred
• Skills in statistical experimentation and data analysis methods is preferred
• Self-driven and proactive attitude with the ability to identify innovative opportunities
• Ability to think creatively and communicate complex technical ideas effectively in a technical environment
• Excellent presentation and networking skills
• Critical observer as well as a conceptual and analytical thinker
• Team player being able to operate in cross-functional teams
• You have a persevering and challenging attitude towards your work environment, whilst being open to be challenged by others
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with writing scientific publications and Intellectual Property related matters
• The position requires excellent written and oral English communication skills
