We are excited to be able to share with you a one-year fixed term position for a Merchandise Buyer to join us at Moochi.
Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for fashion and an eye for detail? As a Merchandise Buyer at Moochi, you’ll manage the end-to-end buying and merch functions, ensuring our product selection aligns with our brand vision and excites customers. Collaborating closely with our Planning, Design, and Marketing teams, you’ll play a key role in driving sales, brand growth and customer satisfaction. With your expertise, youll help us deliver the right product at the right time, optimising sales and enhancing the Moochi experience.

Moochi was founded in Mount Maunganui in 2000 by Kellie and Chris Taylor. This was the beginning of what would become an iconic New Zealand women’s clothing brand, with stores across the country and a strong online presence. The Head Office is now based in Auckland. The Role
- Develop and implement long-term buying and merchandising strategies that align with the overall brand strategy.
- Oversee the commercial aspects of product selection, pricing, promotion, and placement to drive sales and enhance customer experience.
- Act as a key stakeholder in the Creative Palette Process and contribute to product at all touchpoints.
- Collaborate with the Design and Planning team to deliver a commercial and inspirational assortment of products, outfits, and colours to the Moochi customer.
- Act as a key contributor to the management of the product lifecycle from premium to sale, ensuring freshness and relevance of the assortment.
- Identify and develop weekly product plans for marketing and stores to improve sell-through performance and sales.
- Represent the brand in education content to educate and inspire customers and the team on how to wear Moochi.
- Oversee the styling for all brand activations and non-campaign photoshoots to ensure outfits are styled in an on-brand and aspirational way.
- Communicate effectively between key stakeholders and other departments.

Our Ideal Candidate
- Do you have a degree in fashion merchandising, business administration, or a related field?
- Do you have proven experience in a buying or merchandising role within the fashion industry?
- Are you knowledgeable about the retail and fashion landscape?
- Do you have a demonstrated ability to curate a product assortment that meets customer needs and drives sales?
- Can you develop and execute long-term buying and merchandising strategies?
- Are you able to analyse sales data, market trends, and consumer behaviour to make informed buying decisions?
- Do you have a strong understanding of fashion trends, market dynamics, and consumer preferences?
- Are you proficient in financial metrics such as gross margin, ROI, and inventory turnover?
- Do you possess excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners?
- Are you organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously?
- Do you have a creative flair for identifying and selecting products that align with the brand’s vision and appeal to the target customer?
