The Home and Personal Care (HPC) team strives to be the preferred partner of our customers, delivering high-value, sustainable, and consumer relevant solutions for the Home, Personal, and Industrial Care Markets. Our ingredient portfolio includes enzymes and biopolymers for application in detergents, personal care products, textile processing and various industrial cleaning processes.

Our Personal Care business is growing. We are looking for an Application Specialist to develop formulation prototypes for our ingredients and deliver technical support to our Personal Care customers. You will develop our new ingredients in personal care formulations at our IFF Leiden site in The Netherlands. You will be expected to plan and structure your projects, and to work independently. You will be working closely with Sales, Marketing and R&D colleagues to bring new biopolymers and actives to the market and contribute your knowledge towards sales opportunities in personal care applications. You will develop sustainable relationships with customers globally and represent the company at external conferences and industry meetings.

Job Requirements

• Academic degree (BSc or MSc) in a chemical, materials or engineering discipline with minimum 3-5 years’ relevant experience, or higher level degree or diploma in a cosmetics discipline.
• Proven track record in personal care formulation development or personal care ingredient development.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of formulation chemistry, ingredient compatibility, formulation stability, and polymer science.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Good laboratory skills and comfortable working full time in a laboratory environment.
• Proactive, and self-starting personality, consistently takes the initiative.
• Strong communication skills. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
• Team-player who enjoys working in an international environment.
• Willingness to relocate to the Netherlands.
