Overview: The Manager VM Strategy main responsibility is to implement the VM strategy and elevate the store experience, through the creation of visual merchandising programs & guidelines to build VM knowledge and capability whilst ensuring VM consistency and excellence in stores across Europe. In collaboration with the Director of VM Strategy & Operations and Senior VM Manager Operations, the Manager VM Strategy will be responsible for identifying VM opportunities and initiatives to elevate the store environment and improve agreed KPI’s. Understanding the commercial impact of VM is critical to the success of this role, as the Manager VM Strategy will be responsible for testing, tracking (through factual data) and presenting new VM ideas and initiatives to the wider business organization. The role requires the ability to stay focused on future development whilst ensuring VM in the current store fleet is executed in accordance with current guidelines. This position is a matrix reliant, working across and not limited to buyers, planners, real estate, store design, procurement, CX & Sales, and the wider marketing department to ensure the VM strategy is developed and cascaded to the wider business through clear and easy to follow directives. Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Manager, Communications and buying teams to understand and visualize how our product ranges will be merchandised in store, especially for new brand / product launches to develop effective and profitable product presentation in our stores.
  • Implement the VM strategy to focus on the evolution of the instore experience that is omni-channel and seamless to the consumer.
  • Act as gatekeeper for all VM communication
  • Work closely with the Manager Communications to leverage digital platforms, providing seamless communications available to all internal customers, store and corporate.
  • In close collaboration with the Manager, Communications, CX and VM Field team, work on the development of new ideas and VM trials to drive the productivity and profitability of our stores whilst creating a consumer-engaging environment.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Retail Marketing / CX / VM / Planning teams to align on promotional roadmap, maximize POS, and develop VM guidelines and communicate promotional activities to our customers.
  • Constantly challenge current VM practices, identifying, trialing, and implementing new ideas and opportunities to develop the store proposition and keep us 1 step ahead of the competition.
  • Act as a commercial and strategic partner to the Senior Director CX Store Experience, ensuring a close relationship with Buyers, Planning and Store Design Team, working to identify new ideas and opportunities to elevate the store environment, whilst improving commerciality and engagement.
  • Foster effective relationships with vendors, aligning cross-functionally with both primary and strategic vendors to develop concepts / communication that drive productivity and profitability while elevating our consumer experience. Ensure vendor objectives are aligned with the Foot Locker vision.
  • Collaborate with the Senior VM Manager Operations on the development and implementation of training programs to raise VM knowledge and capability at store level.
  • Ensure through cross functional collaboration VM standards are executed through the DSO meetings and new store concept developments.
  • Work closely with the integrated marketing, retail, and design teams to define the in-store consumer journey and provide guidance and support of the development of campaign material and pinnacle window executions.
  • Manage relationships, sharing ideas, initiatives, and best practices across EMEA, APAC and NA on global VM.
  • Build the knowledge and capability of the Coordinator VM.
Qualifications:
  • University education preferably in VM, design or marketing
  • Relevant VM experience (10 years minimum)
  • Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to combine these skills with a hands-on and operational attitude.
  • InDesign experience preferred but not required.
  • Good communication skills, able to effectively lead, manage and communicate with global teams, as well as partnering with corporate functions, as appropriate.
  • Experienced Manager with proven track records leading and developing teams.
  • Demonstrates a sense of ownership - a results-oriented self-starter and risk taker.
  • Computer literate - Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, MS Word.
  • Able to speak in large groups / present on stage.
  • Able to travel for periods of time (1 week away from home in certain situations)
